Cool. I had never heard of Solarpunk before, but I find it all quite exciting and fun. It’s nice to have some new vocabulary to describe the way I try to live, and I like that it's both aspirational (futuristic) and real (in-the-present-moment). In some ways, of course, it’s all just a performance, but that's how a lot of interesting stuff starts - with imagination.
I’m reminded of something that Ursula K. Le Guin said when she accepted the National Book Award:
Hard times are coming, when we’ll be wanting the voices of writers who can see alternatives to how we live now, can see through our fear-stricken society and its obsessive technologies to other ways of being, and even imagine real grounds for hope. We’ll need writers who can remember freedom — poets, visionaries — realists of a larger reality.
Wow, I love this! I went to Saint Andrew’s Solarpunk Primer link and I find this entire topic exciting, the vision so hopeful. I need to investigate this more but I agree, radical imagination is key to building our sustainable future. The artwork is beautiful.
Solarpunk is radical in that it imagines a society where people and the planet are prioritized over the individual and profit.
It's remarkable that the idea of prioritizing human lives and the planet that sustains us is radical. But such is the world we live in.
I dig the moniker, wonder if it will catch enough. So interesting to see all the little pods of action in the climate realm. I really wonder if these utopian dreamscapes are possible.

Yes, bring in the poets and visionaries!

I had that sad snort-laugh moment to this:
