This is another article where I must confess I am disappointed. The point of the story seems to be that rich people are bad (especially Tories) and that their kids are spoiled. That may all be true, but I was expecting more about education itself. If I could afford to hire tutors for my kids and pull them from public schools I would do it in a heart beat. I don't doubt that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and that there are trade offs. Life is all about trade offs. I would love if our public system found a way to replicate this. What if public schooling was a way of signing up for tutoring slots with gifted specialized role models? (Not that teachers aren't gifted role models).
