A good moment for Scrollers to switch over to Readup! Seriously though: this is sad. Scroll had a good idea. Ethical ad-free reading on the web. Keeping Twitter as your main article discovery environment is unfortunately not a good idea.

I've been a Scroll subscriber since more or less day 1, although I basically haven't used it since I discovered how to use Readup on Android. Seeing them swallowed by Twitter pains me, and the way Twitter is handling the merger seems to be rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

But for real; I think this is a huge opportunity for Readup!

Load up this article again in your web browser, and have a look at the comment section. These people want to read The Verge (and other publications) ad free, while supporting online journalism. These people want to use Readup, they just don't know it yet!

Do any Readup users have a The Verge account? Go post some comments!

And someone @ the author on Twitter, try to convince him to write an article about Readup!
