It's unfortunate that Apple's measures being EU-only disincentivizes companies to leverage their new freedoms. It would help if some influential US state(s) pass legislation similar to the EU DMA, like how the California CCPA came after the EU GDPR.
I know we have some iPhone users here. Do you all use Safari, or have you looked into alternatives? I guess performance-wise they're all more or less the same (since they all use the same browser engine), but features may vary.
I have been using Safari on iOS, mostly because it’s the default and the UX feels integrated.
But I’m happy about these changes. It’s a good moment to try something else. And I indeed hope the Blink and Gecko engines will come to iOS. I’ve been disappointed with WebKit’s support for things like service workers & web push, compared to other browsers & engines.
