I gave myself a full day to think about this one. I’m commenting because I’d love to know what other people think, but what I think is that I still have no clue how I feel about any of these people. Impressed and unimpressed. In awe, yet disappointed. The intellectual elite freak me out, in ways that I struggle to describe. And yet, I don’t want to live in a world where people cant live like this, fiddling and tinkering and reading and writing and, above all else, thinking. I don’t want to be a person who automatically tunes it all out. But, still, something about the Titanic nature of these egos is really hard to get past. Nothing about Dennett is down to Earth, but, then again, why should it be? Is “down to earth” that important if you’re trying to live in the stars?
