Very grabby title, and not at all true. "Hollywood" didn't want anything. In 2013, ONE producer approached the author to option the book ("contingent on rewriting the role of Asian-American economist Rachel Chu as a white girl.")
Either way, it is an appalling little narrative. Worth the 1 minute, honestly. And I'm glad the story (in real life) played out the way it did.
Terry Gross, always on the front lines.
