More psyop stuff, found via recent AOTD. (Thanks @jeff!) Really fascinating to me. I can’t stop thinking about this:

Capitalist Realism: Is There No Alternative? is a 2009 book by British philosopher Mark Fisher. It explores Fisher's concept of "capitalist realism", which he describes as "the widespread sense that not only is capitalism the only viable political and economic system, but also that it is now impossible even to imagine a coherent alternative to it."

Fucking FASCINATING. I think that this is totally true. BUT ALSO (here comes the crazy): I genuinely believe that I’m one of the few people alive who actually can imagine “a coherent alternative to capitalism.” It’s almost like being a prophet or something. This isn’t a casual claim. It’s something that I have been putting my entire life into: a giant imagination project. (Is that what I should call it?) Point is: I’m fighting capitalism day in and day out, creating my own world without capitalism — beyond capitalism — and doing so to such an extent that I have no time/brain space/effort left to doubt my purpose and whether or not it’s even possible.

Last thing: I almost never think about “fighting capitalism” because that’s not how it works. Instead, I’m focused on inventing and living the alternative. Imagination rules.

I think you're actually just proving Fisher's point! Capitalism is a political and economic system implemented at the nation state level. The fact that you can live an alternative lifestyle within that context is a feature of the system, not a glitch. That flexibility and focus on individual freedom is exactly what makes the system so resilient. You might think you're fighting it but you're only making it stronger!
