There's a certain irony in someone seeking asylum on grounds of political persecution in Belarus.

I wonder how much research he did into the country beforehand? Is he aware that Belarus has no freedom of speech, strict gun laws, liberal abortion laws, and many state-owned industries? Not exactly how most Republicans would describe their dream society.
