This was an article I had starred and forgotten about.. I’m glad I went back. What a heart wrenching story. The pictures add so much - to actually see the love, joy and togetherness of this beautiful family. Shocking how life can begin to unravel and lead to such a devastating conclusion. I could literally feel this father’s hopelessness - powerful.

Thank you so much for finding this and bringing it back to my attention. It especially breaks my heart to read stories like this one where money (or the lack of money) is the source of such pain.

Heart wrenching. We desperately need to reconstruct our health policies in this country. I’ve read so many similar stories...and have experienced way to many suicides.

Powerful. Having managed through a family member’s mental health issues (and discovering how few options are available), I can empathize. This is role for local, community-based resources.

Heartbreaking. I am aware of these realities in the abstract, but reading one family's story hit home for me in this retelling.
