Yep, hopefully that will be considered and debated before measures like these get implemented in a rush. And for highly accurate location tracking, you'd need everyone to have a smartphone with internet access. That's not guaranteed today, there are holes in the ideas.
Spending an entire week being “terminally online” has provided me with lots of speculation on what life looks like after we emerge from the more visceral threats Covid-19. What does work look like? How do we pay for the accumulation of debt piling up for food and housing while we’re stuck indoors? What’s in the cards for businesses that cater to large groups of people? Do we enact new public safety rules? How do we enforce them? Who enforces them?
This article doesn’t speculate on every wild anxiety running through my head, but I thought that it’s predictions about public safety measures sound possible.
Wild times.
I believe this is the beginning of a shift in the world order. We are technically ready for Big Brother state and now we have “reasons” to monitor more and more people. Hopefully we’ll move toward cooperation, consensus and compassion
We are all being affected and therefore being forced to wake up and change. This is the beginning of a new era but it is still unknown what it will look like.
The assumption that once this pandemic passes, assuming it does ever pass, more will be coming along is probably true, but will it be 100 years again like it was this time?
Increased proximity of humans and wild animals due to our moving into their habitat is going to make things like this more frequent. It has also recently become increasingly feasible to engineer pathogens like this, and it will only become more so. In a sense, it's a good thing that this is happening now in that it forces us to develop resilience for what is surely to come.
This isn't temporary. It's a new way of life.
For me, this is not a good time to be reading that we’ll never go back to how life was. I’ve just made it through a week!
I sense that many of the solutions proposed in this article will be prone to data privacy issues.

Excellent comment.

That’s quite the reality check and for some it’s not looking good

The Mayans said for 2012 there would be an energy shift and the world we knew would never be the same!!
This generation has a huge responsibility on how to manage change, because is really happening and is going to be a big one.
