Magnificent!
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
Hey. Read this one: https://readup.com/comments/the-new-yorker/the-erasure-of-islam-from-the-poetry-of-rumi
It specifically digs into that exact quote - "wrongdoing and rightdoing" is Barks, not Rumi. (Plus Barks came up with all the titles!)
Also, on the topic of wrong and right, there is the wonderful Mary Oliver, who says "You do not have to be good."
Brought me some peace at the end of a hectic day.
Brilliant, perfect, Rumi RULES!!!! Each line is so gorgeous, it takes my breath away. What passion, what originality, what inspiration. We need one a day of these Bill - words to ponder durning a pandemic. The Beauty and The Horror.
I can't shake the feeling that this was written (almost a millennium ago!) for me, right now, today. Nothing short of pure magic.
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty / and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study / and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.
Magnificent!
