I disagree with a lot of what the author writes. It’s not Amazon’s responsibility to decide if a book is true or false. All Amazon is supposed to do is sell books that people want to buy. If the government wants to block books from being sold, they can do that but I have a whole other issue with such government imposed censorship.
This is something that started great and then soured. I remember in 2008 joining pinterest and loving how it could find other project pins I would be interested in. And I was interested! Now I got to pinterest and it is showing me the same things over and over, click a poem and suddenly my whole feed is poems. Click a wood working project and now the whole feed is wood working projects. The same happens with my news feed, book recommendations, and on and on.
The algorithms destroyed variety, and variety is the spice of life.

This is something I did not know about - curation algorithms. Seems so much can be “gamed”, leaving us to the age old cliche, “consumer beware.”
