      Agreed. There are trade offs here, but from my perspective they are trade offs I can live with.

      The reality is that a shrinking population means a shrinking ability to provide social safety nets. We're already seeing this with boomers retiring, but far less workers entering the workforce to replace them (and contribute to social security etc). This is a problem that can be grown out of and policies like this one make it possible for many people to do what the already want to do - have more kids.
