I only relatively recently became aware of this comic, and I just finished reading volume 2. I'm debating with myself if I should watch the show now, or finish the comic first. It's on Disney+ here in Norway, which I don't currently subscribe to, but I intend to at some point, because I want to watch The Mandalorian (and give Wandavision and Loki a try too I think). But first I'm going to finish Squid Game and watch season two of Locke & Key.

Reading this review, I get the feeling the writer hasn't actually read the comic, because it sounds like the show has stayed surprisingly faithful to its source material, considering all the changes its been through. (Though there are two character references here I don't recognise; Hero's friend Sam, and Amber Tamblyn's character (who is apparently inspired by Ivanka Trump, so that could be fun).) That's not really a bad thing I think. The TV show will likely reach a much wider audience than the comic, so it's important that it doesn't just satisfy long-time fans, but those who are new to the franchise as well.

Taking the IMDb rating into account though, I'm not so sure the show is worth watching at all. 6.1 is very low for a TV show, which are usually rated considerably higher than films of comparable quality. Oh well, I'll probably watch at least the first episode and give it a fair chance.
