Interesting to read the counterpoints for cryptocurrencies. Not convinced that the US creating a digital currency will alleviate the problems a Bitcoin/Ethereum is looking to solve.
Did the writer even include anything about the revolutionary aspects of blockchain technology? Also the points are misguided, as the worries failed to include mentioning big tech’s overreach as well. (Especially as Facebook is on the cusp of releasing their own cryptocurrency as well.)
Cyber hacks will happen with or without cryptocurrencies is my best guess
I'm not very convinced by his argument. I'm also wary of anything that sets out to replace cash. I know way to many people, not criminals, for whom cash is the best and most accessible means of business.
I haven't used cash in a year and a half. What's the difference between the money in my bank account and a CBDC?
As always: badly researched and somehow under the impression that taking away crypto would eradicate cyber crime. Ugh.
Point in case being that already the second sentence is plain wrong. Bitcoin is neither private nor untraceable. Quite the opposite actually.
Totally agree with you here.
