An absolute 10! So inspiring. My new adventure is sewing. Not the pattern type sewing, more the restructuring of clothing I find at thrift stores. Recreating them. But first I need to learn how to operate a sewing machine. I’m afraid, which is a great place to start!

What I’ve seen of the new generation of crochet - it’s wildly creative! I hope you do it. Joanne Fabrics may have instruction. Or, know how to find someone. I hope you do it!

      Excellent article. Simple, clear, inspiring.

If you want to go deeper, the book Growth Mindset by Carol Dweck (referenced in this article) is amazing. It has had a huge impact on my life. I read it years ago and still think about it often. I still vividly remember the bits about Michael Jordan. I often catch myself in a "fixed mindset" mode (like: "it's too late for me to learn how to do that") but sometimes (certainly not always) I can figure out a way to shift my perspective.

Being a beginner is a blast. Letting go of ego is a real magic power.

My big foray into late bloomer learning was finally taking English horse riding lessons at age 58. I’d wanted a horse of my own since I was 8 and finally got one at 58!! I’ll never forget the first time I cantered or got thrown off or made it down a steep slope with my horse sliding on his butt. One of the happiest times in my life!!!
