        Couldn't agree more.

I think I've read this four or five times.

This is a brilliant wild romp, had me laughing out loud at times. Nathan Englander paints scenes so vividly I feel that I am actually in the kitchen with these friends taking a hit and passing it around. What a contact high - LOVED it! This is actually a collection of short stories and I certainly would read more from this talented writer.

This is a beautifully written great story .Thank you Readup for sharing. I’m sitting on the beach which usually distracts me from the best reading. I was glued to this story of marriage and friendships, religion and culture of vodka and pot and what people carry with them.... from the past and the present.... gave this a ten

First a quick pot story: So I’m driving around in the Berkshire mountains right now and passing through a series of extremely small towns. So small that when you see even five or ten people together at once, it’s weird. Earlier today, out of the blue, I saw a field of people, lined up, wrapping around an entire warehouse almost, in the middle of an otherwise non-descript business/residential area. So I looped around to investigate and saw a huge sign that read: “Recreational Cannabis.” So then I was like, Holy Shit, yes. Obviously I need to go pack a huge bowl in this parking lot and kick it. Then I was like lol no chance. And then I realized a few cops were lingering in the parking lot (why? go away!) and it was beat so I moved on.

It’s hilarious and beautiful to watch the weed revolution begin. We all have our own stories to tell about this dark, prohibition era. Mine cover many states, many periods of my life, family members, and many sacred/spiritual beliefs. It will be good to get Uncle Sam off our plants, but we still need to be careful because it does crazy things to your head.

The reason this story knocked me out is because I could feel the residual dull of the pot hangover, where the brain isn’t totally back yet, and I felt like that's what the characters were going through in that very final moment of the story. It’s just like....fuck.

A perfect short story. Two couples, talking. Drinking and talking.

And this is how the four of us find ourselves in the back yard, on a searingly hot day, getting pounded by all this cool, cool rain. It’s just about the best feeling in the world.

      Ten.
