This reminds me of Seinfeld, the show “about nothing” but really is about everything. Murakami’s style is unmistakable, like Dylan’s voice, and somehow just always draws me in.

And if he had had sex with her, would his life have been any different?

Bill, I don’t have an answer either but I know we humans hope sex and/or relationship will solve our existential issues. Romantic relationships make us feel invincible but only for awhile.

Yup. I recently started reading Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl, on this exact topic. Sex and relationships may not solve all of our existential crises, but they also add meaning and purpose in many other ways.

The ending reminds me of a recent story I heard about Osho.

He had gotten into a routine everyday and every morning, but then he started struggling with the routine and couldn’t figure out how to course correct. Finally friend invited him for a gathering and offered him drink knowing he would decline because he never drank. This one time he accepted. Next day he was back on his routine path laughing and laughing and laughing.

The story went something like that.

      I really dig this writer.
