This was interesting, little spippets of silly info stays embeded in our thoughts and we tent to remember some of those thoughts with much more detail then when we origonally obsorbed these moments. Selective memory says alot about us. What we remember and why is very interesting and does shape our soul.
Okay I must be older than I realized because I had to google what some of this stuff was before I replied. lol Where I live antique malls are in every town and they are used by everyone! I love them!! They are cheap shopping trips sometimes (did you know wicker furniture is now chic and costs more than my 1970s high back couch did?), museums, collectors, nostalgia, reflection, preservation booths and a snapshot of eras gone by. Out of print books are my favorite! I once checked the online catalog of the 71! libraries that surround me (70 mile radius) and not one had the book I bought at the antique mall! I am pleased to own a piece of history, preserve it and share it freely with others.
My absolute favorite place to shop! My mom taught me and then I brought my own kids. My daughter still shops thrift stores. The best is when we can go together! So fun.
I love going into antique/vintage stores because I can view many things that I grew up with - potato masher, hand operated juice extractor, plaid thermal cooler, electric coffee pot, rotary phone - one time I even saw an entire phone booth! Oh, yes, it’s great to go back and reminisce. The vintage clothing is to die for - such colors and fabrics. I have retained things from the past and I choose what I use in the present. All is not good or bad - just different. I like technology but use it very sparingly. My life is still simple, uncomplicated and grounded in nature, art, reading, spending quality time with friends and family. I feel I have a really good balance of the past and present.
