Unfortunately, a diet dominated by such foods (as well as lots of meat and little in the way of vegetables or fruit—the so-called Western diet) predisposes us to obesity and chronic diseases such as hypertension and type-2 diabetes. These “underlying conditions” happen to be among the strongest predictors that an individual infected with Covid-19 will end up in the hospital with a severe case of the disease; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported that 49 percent of the people hospitalized for Covid-19 had preexisting hypertension, 48 percent were obese, and 28 percent had diabetes.

American friends, you should read this and do something. For your health if not for any other reason.

i’m guessing those most influenced by this diet are also the ones who aren’t on Readup. they’re likely in an echo chamber of facebook, instagram, reddit, and mobile games/apps which stimulate their dopamine receptors, with barely enough money and time for today, let alone any kind of venturing out in curiosity on why things work like they do, or whether or not they should believe the things they’ve been told since birth. these are the ones who are basing happiness on external factors, just trying to make another dollar and impress some people they don’t even like. so how are you going to change their minds? even if you went to each of them and read them this article, what do you think the chances each of them would change, would want to change, would think they even could change?

Wow, I’m stunned about the workers conditions in these meat packing plants. They have to wear diapers because they can’t take breaks - outrageous! And of course they are the poor, marginalized individuals working under these inhumane conditions. The mistreatment of the animals and the workers has been exposed - now what? This was so painful to read. What I noticed while food shopping during this pandemic, is that I had plenty of food to bring home because I eat mostly organic vegetables and Safecatch Tunafish. All the processed white products and meats were gone! SO much is being unveiled and in need of change. This is the silver lining.
