Students take education loans running into tens of lakhs of rupees only in the hope of a guaranteed job at the end of the course. Lenders look at placement records of institutions before sectioning such loans. Placement records are how these schools compete with each other. Better placements equal a better reputation, which means a higher volume of applications in subsequent batches, easier financing of loans, and faster repayments. It is a vicious cycle.
