I always found NYE activities to be very counterproductive to New Year’s resolutions. Now that I’m a lot more conscious about my finances, flamboyant NYE celebrations are even more unnecessary for me. Anyway, I’m sleeping at the usual time tonight and wake up at my normal hour for 2020. Happy new year to y’all!

        +1. I stayed in too. :)

I’m a bit less of a homebody than the author. I’ve had some crazy/fun NYEs, and I still enjoy the occasional wild night, but now I way prefer quiet nights and early mornings. $400 on one night sounds crazy to me now, but I’ve def done that many times before. It was another life. I was spending too much time making money to think about how I wanted to live. Life was about burning the money I didn’t really want, to rationalize the amount of time and energy I was putting in to earning it.

In college, I went out 4 or 5 nights a week. I’m not sure if the silly memories make up for the lost time (and a lot of ugly, embarrassing situations) but also, in a way, life might actually be about wasting time. The only thing I know for sure is that there are a bunch of “right” answers and no one-size-fits-all.
