Great article about an absurd aspect of our late-stage consumerist obsession.

The business taboo of shopping returns! I learned so much here. It seems to me that the measures with the most potential for fixing things happen indeed before the buy. Like much better standards and ways to estimate sizes remotely. I tweeted my frustration about that one recently. And, proactive education of wannabe-sustainable consumers, to set better expectations regarding returns.

Great point! The best way to optimize reverse logistics is to minimize reverse logistics.

Really read it....!!! When people can’t touch things before buying them—and when they don’t have to stand in front of another human and insist that a pair of high heels they clearly wore actually never left their living room—they send a lot of stuff back.

        Great scout, thanks! Super interesting.

That’s the slick thing about shopping now. So much of it takes place in the same manner as returns—in the privacy of your own home, no human interaction or judgment required.

Indeed, a blessing and a curse!
