Benji's definitely a plus to the videos 🤩 This makes me want to try vegetable tamales.

      1. Update (8/8/2021):

It actually took me a while to connect the "Down Dog" to the title of the yoga pose. First thought he was depressed 😅

Love love love Yoga with Adriene and all that Adriene has given to the world with her gentleness. Benji is an absolutely precious down dog.

Benji was born on November 5, 2014 (a Scorpio: intense, mysterious). His likes, according to Mishler: tennis balls; carrots; a bagel-shaped toy he was recently gifted; his dog friends Panda and Willa. Dislikes: fart noises, which he finds scary; plastic bags on the side of the road, which he also finds scary.

How so very much I can relate to Adriene's initial ambivalence to getting another dog after the passing of your beloved canine. It took me a year to even consider it, and another six months after that...and even now, I don't know. The psychic wound of a pet's passing is gargantuan.

Anyway, here's the boy -- I try not to think about the heartbreak to come, which, if I'm lucky, will be more than a decade from now:

BTW, how do you embed photos into you comment? I know it's possible because I've seen it...

      Hope this gets AOTD!

Once I realized after the first paragraph that this is about YWA’s Benji I got super excited. YWA has been my go~to for yoga for more than 5 years now. Benji adds the perfect accentuating moments of spiritual medicine dosage to the yoga experience.

      These quotes are my favorites:

“This is a good lesson and, I think, pertinent for where we are in the world right now,” Mishler muses, as she rubs the little white splotch between Benji’s ears, his eyelids drooping contentedly. “We heal,” she says. “We will love again. We will reunite again. Everyone knows you can’t go around heartbreak—you just have to go through it. But you will.”

“I’ve worked really hard to keep people around the same table that are not like-minded, and Benji is a great tool for that. It sounds so silly, and I can’t believe I’m even saying this, but he’s like a golden ticket for connecting people who wouldn’t ordinarily connect,” Mishler says. “I’ve seen people unite over Benji and joke about how they may not like my politics but they stick around for Benji.”

We have been experiencing new puppy love at our residence lately. A St. Bernard/Blue Heeler/Great Pyrenees/Pit Bull Terrier mix named Josey Wales and she is sooooo advanced intellectually at 6 weeks old. We adore here and she is transforming a heavily masculine space. Tiny and already Super Brave.

      1. Update (8/7/2021):

It warms my heart knowing that you also are part of the YWA community! While I have explored other online options for yoga classes, I have always gone back to YWA consistently.

You put it so well - I absolutely agree!

Miss Josey Wales seems like an absolute joy. I'm sure she's bringing so much energy to the household!
