😂 I read that, raised my eyebrows, continued reading. This one needs further clarification for clueless westerners.

I laughed out loud when I saw your reply! I, too, was wondering what that meant. First I thought it referred to the smell, like work stinks, because certainly fish never lay flat unless they are dead. So maybe the workers feel dead inside? I’d be curious if anyone else has an interpretation.

This is exciting - a potential social movement by the workers - especially within the younger generation. There have been other articles in the past on Readup that talked of China’s brutal working conditions and suicide. I hope this gains traction.

I've long found it fascinating that a country which claims to be communist has such awful working conditions.

So good to see people have the courage to push back despite the censorship and political arrests

I saw “Working Time" as a #1 GitHub Trending Repository. What an alarming backstory!

He added that people can only enjoy overtime work if it’s for self-fulfillment.
