      The shallows could have been written at any point since the printing press was involved. There are reasons to be (extremely) concerned about the Internet and especially about smartphones, but so think Carr’s life is too atypical for him to get to the bottom of it.

      Written 6/4/10 (!) and yet still so relevant today, just like the book itself.

      I live for these little references to “BlackBerrys and Droids.”

      The Shallows is, I think, one of the most important nonfiction books published since Y2K. This article is a great starter. The is the very beginning of a generations-long reckoning.
