I'd trust nothing from FB personally, and the author glossed over how WhatsApp use is saturated abroad thanks to their universal Free Basics program, which has some seriously questionable side effects.
The only thing I don't like about this app is that it's connected to a specific number. I would've preferred if I can use my email for it as well, like in Hangouts, Skype or iMessage.
