This morning I went from Virginia Woolf to Toni Morrison to Rebecca Solnit and it wasn’t at all jarring. This is the kind of writing that begs to be burned so it can rise up from the ashes. Beyond the urgency there is serenity because, after all, Solnit exists and because she is putting words together in combinations like this.
