For me, just getting started is the only hard thing.

Yes! Same. If I could just take that first step, write that first line, then everything else will follow. It's always the daily first times that are hardest.

the principle of Fire and Motion is how you get things done in life. You have to move forward a little bit, every day.

Fire and Motion, for small companies like mine, means two things. You have to have time on your side, and you have to move forward every day. Sooner or later you will win.

I love this. The author doesn’t explain what it means to have “time on your side” but I think I know exactly what he means. When you’re in the flow, working, time is with you. When you’re not, it’s against you. It’s purely mental, of course (it’s not possible to change the course of time) but if you get the feeling that time isn’t on your side, you’re toast.

Also, I think that if you really deeply believe that “sooner or later you will win” it means you’ve already won. At the very least, it means you’re playing the right game.

      Just get started already!!!!

Like a bicycle decked out for a cross-country, self-supported bike trip — when you first start riding a bike with all that gear, it’s hard to believe how much work it takes to get rolling, but once you are rolling, it feels just as easy as riding a bike without any gear.

Fire and Motion - I'm not a coder but I can verify that this is true for non-coders as well. The days I simply start doing the work early, the days I do the first cold call as soon as possible and get going (i.e. 10-15 minutes working/calling) it's super easy to continue. The later I cross this point, the less productive my day turns out.

Great motivational read and an excellent mantra!

Ironic that this article found me because I am here surfing Readup because I can't find the motivation to write more lines of code today. LOL.

I know nothing of this coding world but loved reading about it! Perhaps fire and motion works for everyday life too. Another company is not firing at me but time certainly is - how do I want to spend it? I do not wish to rush through this precious time I have left but I also do not want to stare at a screen (unless reading on Readup). I’m moving forward, paying deep attention and the fire is within me.
