      This is great! I love the idea of using both thumbs to count up to 144 on your fingers. The suggested glyphs and terminology seemed less than ideal though. I think hexadecimal got it right by using A-F along with a prefix.

        No I think they need to have unique symbols, to make it less confusing for children learning the numbers and the alphabet. Though I'm not a big fan of the upside down 2 and 3 use in this article, they do have the advantage of being easily adapted to seven-segment displays.

          Smart points on both accounts. I especially hadn't considered the difficulty in teaching it to children. I wonder how receptive they would be to learning multiple bases. It was something I had never even thought about until I started programming much later in life.

      This is an idea I've had in the past. Until I came across this article, I had no idea that it has been seriously considered.
