the current administration is actively working to roll back fuel economy standards. In an alarming report in the New York Times last week, it came to light that those rollbacks are being supported in large part by emboldened groups of climate-change deniers.

      Unbelievable

It's a stunningly stupid thing to do. Further gains in fuel economy would be incrementally smaller, we're not going to get as big a percentage improvement in mileage as we used to each decade, but going backwards and giving up the fuel economy gains we've got now is just plain irresponsible and should never be allowed.

We have a Nissan that gets good gas mileage that is our primary car. But we also have an old truck and an old SUV that we got cheap used. The truck is totally justifiable, we haul stuff like building materials and furniture all the time for ourselves, our friends, and my wife's charity. Today we hauled an entire bed and back seat full of bagged clothes intended to donate to foster kids across town. The SUV is harder to defend though, but we got it for $2800 last year and couldn't pass it up for the price. It's nice when we can take ourselves and six of our six kids (all adopted for those questioning the ethics of having that many kids when the earth's resources are limited) and thirteen grandkids in one trip, but really that only happens a few times a year. We used to use a minivan for that and it did get a bit better mileage. It is nice to have all that leg and headroom though, I'm not a small person...

Did you know Porsche is building an electric four door that can fit your whole family and your bags?

Wow, I can't even imagine how much that costs, $2800 is more our price range for cars...
