Although led’s don’t bother my sleeping, I do have to tape up every light for my wife’s sleeping.

What a hoot, another article I read just because I couldn’t even understand the comments! But I come to find out, I am not the only one putting black electrical tape over those VERY annoying blue lights! And what a celebration when my husband agreed to take the television out of our bedroom and put it in the guest room. I am like Elvis, my bedroom must be cloaked in complete darkness.

I recently got a new set of speakers for my computer. The blue power LED is so bright that it distracts from the screen. I keep meaning to put a piece of tape over it, but always forget until it starts bothering me. After I type this, I'm looking for a roll of tape.

      1. Update (2/20/2020):

Update: I just put tape over it. It was so bright that it took four layers of masking tape to take it down to a bright, but non-blinding level.

It's such an annoying problem! I use an Evoluent vertical mouse and it has a bright blue illuminated logo on it. Luckily it can be completely disabled without software just by pressing and holding a combination of the buttons on the mouse. I wish more manufacturers took this approach.

I would love to see this become a trend. Hopefully the proliferation of dark mode OS and app themes will get people thinking about dark devices.

A status LED, most would agree, is there to indicate status. It need only deliver enough light to be seen when observed by a querying eye. What it need not do is glow with the intensity of a dying star, or illuminate an entire room for that matter.
