      Interesting. I had no idea about birdsport and it hurts my heart.

      A paradox of the finch trade to New York is that the men who traffic them in straitjackets, or pay others to do so, also profess to love the birds deeply. “You cry when they die,” one man said, and I believed him. “That bird is part of you. It’s like your kid.”

      Ahh yeahhh. Fascinating and enjoyable little slice of life. Flawless writing with brilliantly-drawn, real life characters. I love articles like this that cover topics that I know literally nothing about.

      Also, I lived in NYC for a few years (a few years ago) and this really made me miss it. I used to love hanging around random parks in ethnic neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, just to be an observer of all of the rich and authentic culture on display. An entire world in one city. Magical.

      Reading about New York City can be like taking a little trip there. This article transported me for sure.
