progress happens too slowly for people to notice but setbacks happen too quickly to ignore

      Housel never disappoints. My favorite:

earnings don’t miss estimates; estimates miss earnings.

      Such a cool article!

"once you accept how fragile our assumptions of the future are, you realize that forecasts are the real fluff and history is where the meat is."

When reflecting on this article we should spend some time examining what chunk of history we would like to learn about more? What situation is there currently, where there is so much unknown that we have no basis to predict the future from?

I would be thrilled to learn more about the history of the Great Depression, moving forward from here. Does anyone have any recommended reads on this topic?

One of my good friends taught me that happiness equals expectations divided by reality. Forecasts have always been shot through with anxiety for me.

Interesting distinction - forecast and expectation. Safe to say that everything changes - guaranteed. My father always stressed - live within your means. I found great peace in that - and joy.

At the Core of All of this Is:

Be In The Moment; Surrender to the Let Go & Flow; All while Being True to one’s Authentic Self

Even “expectation” is a strong word, personally. I have had many, many expectations riddled with grenades...ok, no, now grenades is too strong a word, as well.

Read more history, have more expectations and fewer forecasts.

Great takeaway. I wish politicians would follow that principle... but their terms are too short to allow for such long term thinking
