Most fine China has gold or platinum edges which get chiseled off over time in the dishwasher and you can’t put it in the microwave. My grandmother painted those gold edges on fine China back in the day. I have ONE plate she did and it’s a keepsake. I gave my Lenox to my daughter and I wouldn’t be surprised—or hurt—if she donated it to some good charity!
Good thing there’s an option to turn them into something else, something more practical for today’s life.
