        I had no idea gravity batteries existed & thought this was really interesting! A iron-based gravity battery is not something I see standing (or hanging) next to my apartment building anytime soon, but they indeed seem like a good tool in the toolbox for geographies where other solutions don't work as well (as pointed out by some people on Tilde).

        Another difference: batteries can be compact enough to be used by private consumers who have solar panels on their house. I only see this gravity-based solution working for industrial uses.

          This was fascinating to me. I’m encouraged by the creativity of engineers working on this problem. One of the better solutions I’ve read about so far.
