Understanding this dichotomy of founding vs. inheriting, is something I find myself more in tune with, as I seek to build out my own body of work.

You can win an election, inherit an institution, and get all the backlinks at once. Or you can found something, build it up from scratch and get the backlinks over time."

This quote probes at the idea of the commitment that comes with founding something versus inheriting.

As the longer you work at something, and consistently iterating, the more credibility you build.

This makes me reflect on how, being an online "creator," one has to recognize the perpetual grind, yet credibility you build over a certain amount of time.

In the span of the last 3-4 months I have written 13 newsletters, soon to publish my 14th tomorrow.

While also concurrently, putting out a monthly BARTYDARTY mix. I have published 7 mixes so far. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Being in it for the long haul when it comes to your self-assigned commitments, is what it takes to be a founder, rather than an inheritor.

Cheers to the founders out there doing their thing!
