“Private working forests support over 2.5 million jobs,” argued John Hatcher of the Association. “If you are an activist living in Asheville, North Carolina, San Francisco, California, or Portland, Oregon, family wage jobs in rural communities may not be your priority. But, for those of us in the forest products industry, we are proud of the work that we do every day to help grow the economy, by producing a renewable resource that also encourages healthy thriving forests in the southeastern United States.” One thing is clear, supporting working forests keeps land forested, and using sustainable wood packaging seems to be a better alternative than plastic filling the oceans.

"At a time when you can track every mile of a package of Hanes boxer shorts as it travels from the Amazon warehouse to your door, we lack the technology to track a 40-foot-long shipping container carrying thousands of the same shorts from China to the US." It's shocking how little transparency there is in maritime logistics.

How does a large unwieldy government stay on top of changing metrics to track everything that should be included in GDP, and are other countries following suit? I'm shocked that these things aren't being included, but not really surprised. Also, Bill Gates mentions that "Uber’s biggest strength is its network of drivers, but it’s not uncommon to meet an Uber driver who also picks up rides for Lyft." I wonder if Bill has ever taken an Uber or Lyft...
